At Oak Acres Children’s Camp, our main goal is to keep everyone involved safe, healthy, and happy! All counsellors are screened through interviews, personal reference checks, and Criminal Record Checks for working with the vulnerable sector. Our staff receive First Aid & CPR certification, a boating safety seminar by the Red Cross, and a child protection seminar by Child and Family Services.
Our waterfront is supervised by a lifeguard with NLS certification. First Aid supplies are kept in accessible areas and are kept up-to-date.
If your camper requires medication, a special diet, or other special attention, please print the following form out, fill it in with detailed specifications, and bring it to the bus on pickup day. All medications (including over-the-counter medication such as Advil, Tylenol, Benadryl, etc.) should be kept in a labelled zip-lock bag that is separate from the camper’s luggage. Give the medication and the completed medication form to the counsellor at your pickup spot.
All medication is kept in a locked cabinet and will be administered by the staff. If you have any questions or concerns regarding medication, a special diet, or any other special circumstances, please contact the Camp Director before your camper’s session.
Health inspections for lice/nits will occur on the first day of camp. If lice/nits are found in your camper’s hair, we will unfortunately have to send them home to avoid an outbreak. Children are welcome to return to camp as soon as they have been treated effectively and have been inspected by the camp director.
